A six-week online class devoted to learning the basic processes of writing a book.
I Think I Want to Write a Book
Writing a book can be a life-changing experience – at least that's what lots of people who have written a book say. It's also a sprawling process that involves dozens of steps and just as many pitfalls. In this class we'll talk about the basics: book structure, audience, outlines, the creation of a book proposal, and outreach to publishers. But more than anything, we’ll talk about the identification of the solid idea that lies at the center of your book, because knowing what this is is a non-negotiable critical part of the book-writing process. And, of course, we will talk about practice, and how you become the person who has the stamina, discipline, and creativity to get the project done. We’ll look at some varied examples of well-structured books, and we’ll have visits from real-life authors who will share their real-life book-writing stories with us.
The size of the class is limited to 12; participants will be admitted on a first-come, first-serve basis.
